Area Information
This area is but a small piece of Kern County history. Once a very active and thriving gold mining community, now the beautiful landscape is dotted with ranches, big and small.

Located 2 1/2 hours north of Los Angeles and 50 miles east of Bakersfield, nestled in the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains, are two valleys: Twin Oaks – a gentle valley of rolling hills and dotted with majestic ancient oaks and tall pine trees, and the Walker Basin – also heavily treed and offering tremendous views and great ranch land. The winters are mild and horses may stay out on the range year round. The air is fresh and clean, there is plenty of cool, clear water and beautiful, starry nights.

The Local fire dept is located between the two valleys and our school boasts a student body of less than 100 kids, from kindergarten to the 8th grade! Our community proudly supports our children and school.

For great fishing, water skiing, white water rafting and water sports, there is Lake Isabella within 30 minutes of Walker Basin and it’s just a hop, skip and a jump into the mighty redwoods, a few miles above Kernville and the mighty Kern River.
